Core Tasks: Probation & Parole Services
The Probation Services carry out four main tasks as part of the daily work of J&IS:
Investigation and Advice
Preparing probation advice reports for the Court, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Parole Board, and the Minister of Justice.
Probation and Parole Supervision
Monitoring and guiding clients who are under probation or parole conditions, and supporting them to comply with court or parole orders.
Community Service Orders
Organizing and supervising court-ordered community service, carried out in Non-Governmental Organizations and Government agencies.
Behavioral Interventions and Training
Delivering structured behavioral intervention programs such as I-Respect, Lifestyle, Positive Parenting, Alcohol & Violence, Social Skills, Safe Homes, De-Escalation, Aggression Replacement Training, and Cognitive Skills.
Core Tasks: Family Guardianship Services
Family Guardianship carries out three core tasks as part of its daily work:
Implementing Child Protection supervision orders (OTS)
Supervising, guiding, and protecting minors who are placed under a court-ordered protective measure.
Assistance and Support to Parents
Assisting and guiding parents and caregivers to create a safe and stable environment for the child, including support during and after the protective measure.
Reporting and Advice
Preparing family guardianship reports for the Court of Guardianship and the Judge and appearing in court when required.
Tasks: Foster Families Central
Foster Families Central carries out the following tasks:
Recruitment of Foster Parents and Mentors
Encouraging members of the community to become foster parents or mentors.
Selection, Screening, Training, and Preparation
Carefully evaluating, training, and preparing foster parents and mentors before placement.
Matching Children with Families
Finding and placing each child with the most suitable foster family or mentor.
Guidance and Support
Providing ongoing support, monitoring, and guidance to foster parents and mentors.
Awareness and Public Education
Raising awareness in the community about the need for foster families, promoting foster care through outreach, and ensuring the public understands the importance of providing safe and stable homes for children.
Tasks: Youth Residential Home
The Youth Residential Home carries out the following tasks:
Safe and Structured Living Environment
Providing a stable, supportive environment for youth placed under protective measures who cannot live with their families.
Counselling, Education, and Life Skills
Offering guidance, schooling support, and practical life-skills training to support each child’s development.
Care Planning and Reintegration
Implementing care plans that focus on wellbeing, safety, and preparing youth for future independence or reintegration.
Family Contact
Facilitating family visits and maintaining appropriate connections with the youth’s family.
